Monday's Montage: Casablanca

I hope you all had a great holiday! Mine was lovely. I even won cookie cupcakes from Penny over at Penny Lane. Yea for me!

Last night my husband and I watched Casablanca with his parents. Now I've seen it before and liked it, but never got why it was such a phenomenon. Last night for whatever reason the stars aligned (it probably didn't hurt that I only got interrupted once and then we paused the show so I didn't miss anything), and I understood why people far and wide love this movie. I'm thinking that I never really got the whole story, and this is one movie where you have to get the whole story to appreciate it fully.
Casablanca
It's funny and sad and poignant. It's historical and personal. If you haven't seen it, you should, but make sure you can give it your full attention. It's worth it. Here's a trailer for it.

I find you really have to watch those movies without interruption or with kids who think it is stupid.

I've never made time for this movie, even though I know I should. I have a bunch of movies that are on the must-see list that I have yet to see. I'm embarrassed to admit it. But, I'll keep this in mind!!

Hmmm, never seen it before. Maybe now I'll have to try it. As for a time where I'm never interrupted, that will be hard to pull off.... :)

Boy this is an oldie..I can't even think of the last time I saw it...a good ten years ago at least!

OK, you've convinced me to watch it uninterupted. Now that's a challenge.

I love oldies like this -- they are classic and speak to me somehow. maybe it's the same part of my brain that likes reading historical so much.

This is definitely one of those movies on my list to see that I never seem to get around to. It's a classic says all my friends and family who have seen it. I hope to see it sooner rather than later.

okay, so maybe I need to give the movie another viewing, because I'm of your prior thoughts.

I loved Casablanca too. And Gone With the Wind. Although I would have preferred happy endings!

One of my favorite movies, but I'm a sucker for old black and whites :)

I love the old classics too. I was going to watch Casablanca just the other night, but opted for Singing in the Rain instead. Casa is next. Either that or Gone With The Wind ...

What a great movie. I had to watch it a couple of times (with kids, you know, so there were interruptions) before I fell in love with it, but now it's one of my favorites.

You know ... I don't think I've ever seen the whole thing! I'll have to watch it.

I've seen Casablanca, but it's been a while. I remember liking it. But hearing you blog about it gives me the desire to watch it again.

Oh gosh, it's been over twenty years since I saw that movie. Reading this, I'd like to watch it again. I actually own it on DVD--one of the spoils when my parents divorced, but I haven't watched the DVD.
