How about a couple of poems?

I'm still in the depths of wheezing and coughing and essentially feeling rotten, etc., so I thought I would throw up a couple of poems for y'all. (pun intended.)

The Zit

Chocolate feeds it!

Oxy 10 impedes it!

The adolescent curse!

Stop it!

Don’t pop it!

You might mar your face!

empty

I looked at your empty hand

            and  thought:

It should be filled…

With trophies

            and stardom

With my hand

            and heart

With my face

            and  kisses

With precious gifts

With life

            and happiness

But it remains empty

            and I ache.

I loooove the second poem, Lois! Before we get to the end I already feel the ache. Maybe you don't need the last line? I'm not sure, though. You'd have to play around with it.

My favorite part is "With my face and kisses"

Awww!

Thank you for sharing! I love poetry dearly. :)

I'm not very thankful for your sharing of that first poem. That imagery is a little too vivid.

Hope you feel better.

I hope the sneezing and hacking, up and leaves you soon. You have my sympathy - well you heard me so you know I empathise!

I adore both your poems - the first for its humour and relatability and the second because we all know what that yearning feel like and you captured it so beautifully. I decided many years ago to quit yearning and just appreciate what was real and tangible. I met my husband, who is the absolute love of my life, almost the instant that I realised that. Funny how life is isn't it?

Thanks all for your compliments. Those were both written a while ago. I don't have that ache any more. but I did tweak the second one recently and like it much better than when I originally wrote it. Sometimes it takes not being invested in it to make it better.

I'm usually clueless about poetry in general, but I loved the first one. %-) It made me laugh!

Nice job.
