As a writer looking forward to that elusive chance to publish, I'm firmly grounded in a need for hope. It's even one of the core messages of my novel.
So...
With a nation reeling from a falling economy...
With my children's goals looming large ahead of them...
With my husband's desire to have a tidy organized home... ;)
With family and friends searching for love and striving for success...
With a new President about to take office who based so much of his campaign on hope...
With people suffering near and far looking for a better life for themselves and their children...
...I
.
HOPE

What a wonderful word to choose! And I really like the fact that you looked beyond yourself, at the rest of the world, in choosing your word.
Loved this post because this is exactly what I'm focusing on this year. Hope can be underated!
Yea for another hoper! We can hope together!
It's a perfect word. I think I'll choose the same one.
Hope is so important in life!
Becky, speaking of hope, I hope you're feeling better!
That's beautiful, Lois! And I LOVE the picture of the camera with the word hope on it. That means many things to me on many levels. :)
I also hope to get published, but we'll see. It's a big goal.
I hope to continue our friendship, too!
Very nice word, Lois! HOPE is something we can keep with us always!
Glam, I'm sure it will happen for you! You are so talented!
PJ, I'm hoping that I can. Despair is not cool.
I think HOPE is a fabulous word! In fact, when PJ Hoover challenged folks to think of a word ... Hope and Contentment were the first two to pop into my mind. I ended up deciding on Contentment ... but still love HOPE too! :-)
I like your word for the year. :)
I didn't choose one for this year, but last year I chose Love, as in friendly love... of family, of friends, not romantic love. And last year, I think that one word typified the year, even though I didn't think about it much after the January 1. Subconscious maybe?
Anyway, maybe the same will work for you :) I like your new blog. :)
Kelly, contentment is what I strive for with my hope.
Anette, thanks. Love was one of the words I considered.
Hope springs eternal in the human breast!
Here's hoping for a great year for all :D

I'm so glad hope springs eternal. We all really need it.
