Last night the hubby and I watched White Christmas. If it's not the favorite, it's, at least, one of my favorite Christmas movies. You gotta love Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby! They are so funny.
There is a lot of great music and dancing including hilarious music and dancing like in the scene with the guys doing the number "Sisters."
Every time I see this movie, I marvel at the dancing of Vera-Ellen.
And we can't forget Rosemary Clooney and her powerful, yet velvety voice. And then there's that dress she wears when she sings "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me." Here's the front, but you're missing out on half the dress if you don't see the back. (Hee hee.) I love that number whole scene.
In fact, the whole movie is fantastic. If you like musicals and haven't seen this yet, you've gotta get on the ball. It's a must see.

You can't forget about her waist size as well. Love this movie, this and Holiday Inn are my favorites.
I don't think I have seen it. And yeah, look at that waist.
Yes another classic I still haven't seen. My co-workers and I were just talking about this movie at lunch today.
I do like musicals and I haven't seen this! What have I been doing my whole life? :) Now I must watch it. Although, I must say, there's another Christmas movie that everyone love that I.....don't. (It's a Wonderful Life) It's quite possibly because I've been forced to watch it every Christmas for 30 years. So maybe without that kind of background I'll like this one.
Patti, We are going to be watching Holiday in one day this week. I love that one too.
PJ and Patti, yeah that waist is tiny, but Vera-Ellen's is tinier.
Davin and Kasie, what are y'all waiting for? Make this year a White Christmas year.
Kasie, I understand about the "It's a Wonderful Life." I used to love that movie and still enjoy it, but it can get old after a while. For some reason this one never gets old to me. Maybe because it's so funny. Danny Kaye's faces crack me up. And sure it's dated a little bit, but for something that was made as long ago as it was it's still surprisingly current.
This is my tree decorating movie. Love the music and it gets us in the christmas mood. Started out watching in on video and have now moved up to dvd. It's hilarious when my son starts singing Mr. bones.
Robin, that's got to be so cute.
Sigh. Love this movie... must dig it out, and dust it off! You've inspired me.
I spent half the night in tears last night when I couldn't find A Christmas Carol: the Musical--with, Kelsey Grammar as Scrooge. And the great and wonderful music of Alan Menken. Looks like I let a friend in england borrow it. Now I've got to get another copy.
What a great movie that is! Love it!
Jenni. I need to watch that Kelsey Grammar Scrooge one again. It's been forever since I saw that.
A, Indeed! I knew you'd love it.
Good heavens. I always thought White Christmas was only a song by Bing Crosby - I never realised it came from a movie. I love old movies so that's one to watch out for.
They sure knew how to dress back then! Think how racy and edgy that white number must have been for the day. oh, la, la!
I love Danny Kaye! Old movies rock. :D
Yay!! Great post! Check out my blog I've posted several times about White Christmas and Vera-Ellen :)
I love this movie! It's one of the families favorites to watch at Christmas time. <3
Good pick!
P.S. There's something for you on my blog ;o)
I love Bing Crosby movies! Holiday Inn is a great one that I haven't pulled out yet this year. Hope your Christmas is white, or at least wonderful :)

Hi Lois. You are unplugged right now, but I'm coming back into your life. I once had a love affair with old movies, especially Doris Day, and it died away. It seemed a lot of the plot lines to those old movies kind of fell apart at the end. However, as I still love musicals, I think I'll have to watch White Christmas. Happy New Year!
