I declare war!

...on excess!

Spring has sprung!

The excess on this picture makes it surreal and that is my intent. In art sometimes excess can be great, but too much excess is just too much.

It's time for the Spring Clean!

And I'm in full out PURGE mode! (My poor children! You can picture the miserable creatures cleaning their rooms and sorting through the toys they haven't played with in years. Broken hearted!  My husband loves it! Mwa haha!)

I created a shirt at the Design-a-T store at Disney last week that says "I am Queen! Obey me!" I am sporting it today! So watch out excess! Cringe gluttony! Fear me mess! I am Queen and you are going down! down! down! out! out! out!

As many of you know I've been purging my ms. It's getting there. All extraneous words and phrases must go! Snip, snip, snip! chuck! chuck! chuck! Here's to giving all excess the big heave ho! Good luck to you who are doing the same!

Don't cut too much! :-/ LOL!

I love that picture! It's beautiful. I'm working on cutting too, though it seems I've added more than I've cut. Somehow all my second drafts end up longer than the first. But if it works, it works!

YAY! I'm right there with ya!!! On the ms. and in my house! :)

Cut out article adjectives. Who needs 'em?

I love shearing it down once I'm done with the first draft. I actually write a huge word count just to assure I'll land safely within my limit once I've done so.

Glam, Mwahahaha! Go get 'em!

Litgirl, only the sludge!

Cindy, I know what you mean about the 2nd ending up longer. I've had that problem too.

Beth, I'm glad that we're on the same wavelength.

Justus, nothing but the essential!

T. Anne, That's good plan. I think when I write in the future, it will be my plan. That's what I ended up having to do with this first book.

Beautiful picture!

Poor kidlets. I can't wait to do some spring cleaning of my own. In a few years. ;)

My writing methods are more bare bones, so rather than purging, I'll be planting bulbs that will hopefully become beautiful flowers.

If my excess looked like that picture, I'd keep it exactly as it is and frame it. Seriously. It's gorgeous!

But the picture aside, I'm with you on the excess thing. Must get it out.

Love purging! You go! :-) LOVE, love, love that picture! Such stunning color saturation!!!

Windsong, I used to think I was a bare bones writer, but now I realized I'm quite verbose.

PJ, Thanks about the picture. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

My house could use some purging. You want to fly over here and do it for me? My MS, on the other hand, has been raked clean. Mostly, I hope.

I wish I could pop over there. Purging is fun in pairs! Then we could have a big get together with all the other writers out there, and I could visit all my nieces going to college around the corner from you.

Hey, Kelly, Thanks! I was playing with that. I wanted it realistic enough, but over saturated enough to have a surreal feel.

I've been systematically doing the same thing around my house. Only my husband is hoarding things and hiding them in the garage. I do the kids rooms when they're gone :^) Have fun!

BTW, gorgeous photo!

lotusgirl said...

Sherrie, Hehe! My husband is not a hoarder. I thank my lucky stars. That is more my tendency, but I want it all gone now. and thanks about the pic.

I love your tee shirt! I want one!

It does feel so good to purge. We have a church yard sale coming up and I've made three trips with my van full. Who knew I had that much junk?

lotusgirl said...

Thanks! The store was actually lots of fun! They had these kiosks shaped like T-shirts with touch screens where you could pick all kinds of different graphics and type in your own words with different colors and fonts, etc. It's pretty cool. They print up the shirts right there and you can pick them up in about an hour or two. It's sponsored by Hanes. I wonder if you could order from it online or if you have to actually be at Disney.

TTWC, Huzzah!

Jenn, *pushes enthusiasm enthusiastically in your direction*

I love it! What a way to greet spring - with whole-hearted enthusiasm and a love of excess!

I'm not currently cut junk scenes (excess) from my first novel, but I'm sure I will be in the near future, again might I add.

lotusgirl said...

Caryn, I think it is the best way to greet Spring!

Crimester, I've been cutting them in shifts and waves.
